First of all most of those who have an account on Upwork definitely noticed the very rude account and skills verification system for freelancers. The system is not applicable only on new members, but it also included talented members with years of experience and highest rates. Further more Upwork suspended thousands of freelancers accounts permanently. The excuses Upwork team said to the suspended accounts holders are very weak and silly as many of them said. Even Freelancer platform itself has its disadvantages.

1- Low work quality

Very big platforms like freelancer can’t guarantee the quality of work delivered to clients. Actually clients are responsible for testing the freelancer skills before the hiring process. For instance in graphic design field, any new member can register graphic design as a skill he got. At this point the freelancer is not forced to have any sill tests by the platform to verify his skill. As a result, when talented freelancers submit on work they are lost in the crowd of untalented freelancers.

some might argue that most of general remote work platforms have skills tests freelancers can take. Although this is a good practice, but it is not reliable for the following reasons:

1- The skills test are not mandatory so freelancers with very low skills still can submit to work without passing any tests.

2- Some platforms provides skills tests for a price which discourage new members to take them.

3- Mostly only experienced freelancers take skills  tests. Experienced freelancers usually cost much more than inexperienced. So, as a client with low budget it might be perfect to hire a freelancer with little experience. But in this case the freelancer should at least have some good skills. In this case with bids from inexperienced freelancers  mostly haven’t passed any tests, the client will not be able to distinguish those with good skills from others with no skills.

2- Wrong job categories

New clients usually have difficulties in using remote work platform. Thus they might submit a job under the wrong category. For example, a web development job under graphic design category. As a result, freelancers who have registered the right skill for this category will not see that job. On the other hand, the client in this case possibly will not find a good hire.

3- Technical support

Although technical support team is not supposed to understand the nature of the work they are solving an issue for, but in some cases the issue can’t be solved unless the tech rep got some background about this work. In a platform of 900+ skill like freelancer the tech support rep is not aware of the nature of most of the skills.

4- Pricing is lose

Definitely general platforms like Upwork and freelancer can not set a minimum price for each skill. This is one of the biggest issues in general remote work platforms. As a result we see a very low bids on jobs of skills that should have a very high price. This is a disaster in fact for talented freelancers because they will always have junior competitors ready to do the job almost for nothing.

The advantages of specialized remote work platforms are  the solution for all the mentioned issues.

  • Talking about work delivered quality most of specialized platforms tests the remote worker’s skills before allowing him/her to bid on jobs. So there is no worry as a client to have a low talent bids and no worries for workers to have  untalented competitors.
  • Also it is almost impossible to imagine a job of the wrong category in a platforms specialized in only one skill category.
  • Technical support might also don’t have any idea about the work category in specialized platforms but in some cases they do and this would be very helpful in solving client-worker issues and disputes.
  • Finally, we can see that most specialized platforms usually sets a minimum price for the work. So both the client and the remote worker are committed to this price. As a result talented workers bids are not scrambled by low price junior’s bids as in general remote work platforms like Upwork.

10 Tips to help you to be more productive

1. Build a framework

Start off by blocking hours for work, rest and play. Plan a typical week based on your commitments so that you get a balance of work, rest and play.

Why? Because you’ll become more productive.

2. The Habit Loop

When you have your structure mapped out, then you can start to build healthy habits into each and every day. Forming healthy habits helps you become more productive.

In his book The Power Of Habit, Charles Duhigg breaks a habit into a three-stage process. I like to refer to these as the three Rs:

Reminder: Start with a reminder of the task you need to do; e.g. set a reminder in your calendar to work on a particular task at a certain time of day.
Routine: Follow a routine to complete that task; e.g. make a checklist of the steps you need to complete your task so that you have a consistent approach
Reward: Give yourself a reward; e.g. have a coffee or spend 5 minutes on social media – whatever floats your boat.

3. Work in your best time of day

If you want to be a productive freelancer, then you’ll have to find your best time for working. That’s the flexible thing about freelancing – you can choose your most productive hours. No more attending meetings or presenting lectures when you feel half asleep.

If you’re not sure when you function best, then monitor yourself for a week.  Note down when you were feeling more energised, compared to when you were feeling more sluggish.

4. Focus on one thing – prioritise your tasks

When you start freelancing you soon realise that there is a heap of stuff to do. It’s not just a case of writing or designing or creating. Unfortunately, there’s admin, finances, and marketing to consider too.

• Don’t get overwhelmed.
• Don’t get bogged down with a long list of outstanding tasks.
• Don’t try multitasking.

Focus on one thing at a time. Look at all your tasks and ask yourself, “What is the most important thing I need to do right now?”

There will only be one thing that is the most important. So do that first. You’ll feel empowered when you’ve completed it.

Then, and only then, look at your list of tasks and pick the next most important thing.

5. Eliminate distractions

Once you’ve zoned in on your one thing, working at your best time of the day, then the last thing you need is a distraction.

• Putting a sign on your door, then do it.
• Switching off your phone, then do it.
• Closing email and social media, then do it.

6. Set time limits on your tasks

When you allocate a specific time to a specific task, then you’ll become more productive.

Rest, Here are three ways you can take a regular break:

  • The Pomodoro Technique For each Pomodoro (interval), you work on a task for 25 minutes and then take a break of 3-5 minutes. After four Pomodoros, you take a longer break of 15-30 minutes. 

Whatever work and break interval you choose, make sure you do something different in your break
  • The Rule of 52 and 17 A recent study showed that people were most productive when they took regular breaks. Although the numbers seem a little random, it turns out that working for 52 minutes, then taking a break for 17 minutes, before getting back to work, returned the best results.
  • The Power Nap Scientists have proven that taking a 15-20 minute power nap can boost your energy levels. If you find yourself becoming sluggish and unable to think clearly then maybe a power nap will help you

7. Get your sleep

We’re all different. Some people need 8 hours sleep each night so that they can function properly throughout the next day. Others can manage on much less.

The key is to make sure your body has the right amount of sleep so you can maintain your energy and concentration levels throughout the day.

8. Maintain a healthy diet

Food plays an important part in maintaining your energy levels. If you eat too much food, then your body has to work harder to digest it, and as a consequence, your energy levels drop. And then you become less productive.

When you start to feel sluggish, it’s easy to think a quick fix of coffee and chocolate is the answer. But there are plenty of other foods which are proven to boost your energy levels (without expanding your waistline).


9. Drink plenty of water

Opinions vary on how much water we should drink each day to stay hydrated. The health authorities commonly recommend eight 8-ounce glasses, which equals about 2 litres, or half a gallon.

هذه الصفحة مخصصة للمشترين فقط (العملاء) بحيث يقدروا ينشروا عليها طلبات العمل اللى هما محتاجينه يتعمل. بالنسبة لاستخدام الفريلانسر على هذه الصفحة يقتصر على انه يقدم على طلبات الخدمات اللى عليها فقط (راجع هذا  الموضوع لتعلم كيفية التعامل مع صفحة طلبات المشترين).

النشر على صفحة طلبات المشترين عواقبه هى ان الموقع هيقفل حسابك اما لمدة 6 شهور فقط او ممكن يقفله بشكل نهائى. وراعى ان فايفر لما بيوقف حساب او بيقفله مش بيسمح لصاحبه انه يسحب فلوسه اللى عليه.

2- ممنوع إرسال ملفات الشغل فى رسائل خاصة

سواء كانت رسائل خاصة على فايفر نفسه او رسائل خارج الموقع يجب ارسال ملفات العمل فقط من خلال صفحة الطلبيات Orders فقط من خلال رابط او لينك المكتوب عليه Deliver work.

قلنا من قبل إن من أهم مميزات موقع فايفر إنه يسمح للفريلانسر إنه يحدد عدد المرات اللى يقدر العميل يطلب فيها تعديل reversions  اثناء إنشاء الخدمة بحيث لما العميل بيشترى الخدمة بيكون عارف ان من حقة طلب عدد معين من التعديلات يقدر يطلبها بشكل رسمي من العميل. لدرجة انه فى بعض الاحيان بعض الفريلانسرز بيقدموا خدماتهم بدون امكانية طلب اى مراجعات على الاطلاق. فى الحالة ديه لو الفريلانسر سلم شغلة بشكل رسمي بالطريقة التى تحدثنا عنها فى الفقرة السابقة يكون امام العميل عند الحاجة لطلب تعديل احد امرين اما قبول العمل اوطلب تعديل مدفوع (عن ).

أما اذا قام الفريلانسر بتسليم ملفات العمل من خلال رسالة خاصة بغير الطريق المحدد لذلك فسيخسر بذلك هذه الخاصية الهامة. ولن يتخلص ابدا فى هذه الحالة من طلبات التعديل المتتالية من العميل.

3- ممنوع استخدام الصور التى تحمل حقوق نشر واستخدام دون الحصول على هذا الحق

العديد من الفريلانسرز على موقع فايفر يقومون بنسخ الصور من على الانترنت واستخدامها كصور معبرة عن الخدمة الخاصة بهم دون الاكتراث بحقوق الملكية.

ويمثل ذلك خطأ فادحا لسببين:

الأول هو ان فى معظم الاحوال يكتشف موقع فايفر انك لم تحصل على حق استخدام هذه الصور من مصدرها وبالتالى يقوم برفض نشر خدمتك وفى بعض الاحيان قد يؤدى ذلك الى ايقاف حسابك نفسه على الموقع.

الثانى وهو ان معظم تلك الصور المستخدمة تكون شائعة الاستخدام بشكل كبير وربما رآها العميل من قبل اكثر من مرة وسيتعرف عليها بسهولة. وهذا سيعطى انطباع سيء لدى العميل قد يدفعه عن شراء خدمتك.

الحلول البديلة:

أولا: هناك العديد من الموقع التى توفر صور مجانية وعالية الجودة. يعض تلك المواقع يعطيك الحق فى استخدام تلك الصور كافة الاستخدامات. يمكنك اذا البحث فى تلك المواقع عن ما يناسب لتقديم خدمتك وتستخدمة مباشرة. ويمكنك كذلك اجراء اى تعديلات بسيطة عليه باستخدام برنامج الرسوميات الخاص بالويندوز باضافة عنوان خدمتك مثلا او اهم مميزاتها.

ثانيا: ان كنت تجيد استخدام الفوتوشوب فالحل الامثل هو استخدام صورة من تصميمك الخاص لهذا الغرض. وإن لم تكن تجيد استخدامه يمكنك حتى ان تطلب من احد الاصدقاء اعداد هذا التصميم لك. بل من الممكن حتى ان تقوم بشراء خدمة تصميم صورة لخدمتك من موقع فايفر او خمسات وهى من الخدمات الرائجة جدا على الموقعين. وتذكر ان هذا يعتبر بمثابة استثمار لك فكلما استثمرت فيه حقق لك عائدا اكبر ودفع ذلك العملاء للاستثمار فى خدمتك ايضا.

4- ممنوع كتابة بيانات خاطئة لوصف خدماتك

نلاحظ ان الكثير من الفريلانسرز يلجأون إلى الادعاء بان لديهم خبرة طويلة فى تقديم خدماتهم. ويعتقدون بذلك أن هذا سيساعدهم على الحصول على مشترين لخدماتهم الجديدة.

يلجأ ايضا البعض إلى القول بانهم يستطيعون تقديم خدمات لا يعلمون شيئا عنها حتى.

فى الحقيقة هم على صواب فى تفكيرهم. فالمشترين غالبا سيشترون فقط الخدمات المباعة ولها تقييم جيد جدا. لكنهم اخطأوا فى اختيار الحل الصحيح وحساب عواقب ادعاء الخبرة.

بالاضافة الي ذلك اذا اشترى احد العملاء خدمة لمدعى الخبرة فسيتوقع مستوى متقدم لهذه الخدمة لن تتمكن من تقديمه طالما لا تمتل الخبرة التى ذكرتها فى وصفك للخدمة التى تقدمها. وفى هذه الحالة سيكون من الطبيعى ان لا يرضى العميل عن مستوى الخدمة المقدم له. ومن ثم قد يقوم بالغاء العمل او قبوله واعطائك تقييم سيء. وفى الحالتين سيضرك ذلك كثيرا على المستوى البعيد والقريب. فقد يشترى العملاء خدمات جديدة لفريلانسرز بدون خبرة ولكن لن يشترى اى عميل خدمة حاصلة على تقييم عام سيء ابدا.

اذا كن صادقا وامينا فى وصف خبرتك فى تقديم تلك الخدمة ولا تقلق من عدم وجود مشترين. فغالبا ما تكون مرحلة ما قبل بيع اول خدمة هى الاصعب. ومن ثم ستتوالى الطلبات على تلك الخدمة. كما يمكنك اللجوء الى العديد من الاساليب المشروعة للترويج لخدماتك الغير مشتراه.

5- لا تكتب وصفا قصيرا لخدمتك

فإن ذلك يعطي انطباعا بان مقدم الخدمة غير مكترث بوصفها بالشكل الملائم. واذا جريت بحثا سريعا ستكتشف بنفسك ان الخدمات التى لها وصفا دقيقا مطولا اكثر مبيعا من تلك التى لها وصفا قصيرا.

6- لا تتأخر فى الرد على الرسائل الخاصة

وقت الرد على العملاء من اهم العناصر التى تستخدم لتقييم ادائك على الموقع. فحصولك على معدل رد سريع على رسائل العملاء سيعطى انطباعا جيدا لدى العملاء عنك. وعلى النقيض من ذلك قد يحجم العملاء عن شراء خدماتك ان كان معدل ردك على رسائل العملاء طويلا نسبيا (اكثر من ساعتين.

أفكار ستساعدك على سرعة الرد على العملاء 

  • ينضح بشدة ان يتوفر لديك هاتف ذكى يحتوى على انترنت طوال الوقت.
  • تأكد من انك متصل على حساب بريدك الالكترونى الذى استخدمته للتسجيل على الموقع.
  • سيرسل لك الموقع بريدا الكترونيا بكل تحديث يصلك بما فى ذلك رسائل العملاء.
  • تاكد من انك قمت بتفعيل التنبيه الصوتى على هاتفك الذكى لتنتبه لكل رسالة جديدة تصل الى صندوق بريدك الالكترونى.
  • قم بتنزيل تطبيق فايفر على هاتفك الذكى من موقع جوجل بلاى ستور.
  • سيقوم التطبيق بتنبيهك عند استلام اى رسالة او تحديث بنغمة صوتية.
  • اختر نغمة صوتية مميزة حتى تستطيع تمييزها عن باقى التنبيهات على هاتفك.
  • الاهم من كل ما سبق قم بالرد على ما يصلك من رسائل فى الحال.
  • إن كنت مشغولا ولا تستطيع قراءة الرسالة يمكنك ارسال رد سريع للعميل بانك ستقرا رسالته بعد كذا من الوقت وشكرا على تفهمك وانتظارك.
  • ان كنت فى الخارج ووجدت ملفات لا يمكن فتحها الا على الكمبيوتر فقم بالرد على العميل وابلغه انك قرات رسالته وسترد عليه فور وصولك لمكتبك وتنزيل المرفقات والاطلاع عليها.

7- لا تعرض مدة تسليم ابعد من المعدل الطبيعى

عند قيامك بانشاء خدمة جديدة يجب عليك مطالعة الخدمات الموجودة على الموقع من نفس النوع. ومراعاة ان المدة التى ستحددها للانتهاء من خدمتك لا تتعدى متوسط المدد لباقى الخدمات المعروضة من نفس النوع. وبصفة الخاصة تلك الخدمات الاكثر مبيعا. والحالة الوحيدة التى يمكنك فيها ان تتعدى تلك المدة هى ان تقدم الخدمة بشكل مختلف يتطلب المزيد من الوقت للانتهاء منه. أو ان تعرض سعر اقل من الجميع مقابل وق اطول للتسليم.  لكن ان كانت خدمتك بنفس الشكل كما فى باقى الخدمات من نفس النوع فلا يمكنك  عرض مدة اطول. وإلا العميل سيختار الخدمة المعروضة باقصر وقت للتسليم.

8- لا تقبل عدد طلبات شراء لخدماتك  اكثر من اللازم

كثير من الفريلانسرز يعتقدون انهم يجب ان يقبلوا جميع الطلبات التى تاتيهم لعدم تفويت اى فرصة لمضاعفة الارباح. وغالبا ما يتنهى بهم المطاف بالعجز عن تسليم بعض الخدمات فى وقتها. ويترتب على ذلك الحصول على تقييم سيء وعواقب اخرى منها ان الموقع قد يصنفك  كبائع من درجة اقل من درجتك الحالية.

الحلول المقترحة: 

  • اكتب فى نهاية وصف كل خدمة من خدماتك تنبية للعملاء بضرورة مراستلك اولا قبل الاقبال على شراء الخدمة. سيمكنك ذلك من تحديد الوقت المناسب لتسليم الخدمة وفقا لجدول اعمالك.
  • يمكنك تحديد الحد الاقصى للطلبات من كل خدمة فى نفس الوقت. بمعنى ان حددت هذا الرقم بـ 3 مثلا فان كان لديك ثلاث طلبات لا تزال تعمل عليها فلن يستطيع اى عميل ان يشترى نفس الخدمة قبل ان تقوم بتسليم واحدة من هذه الخدمات الثلاثة.
  • ان كان لديك الكثير من الطلبات ولا يمكنك قبول اى طلبات من اى خدمة من الخدمات التى تقدمها فى هذه الحالة يمكنك تشغيل خاصية او اشعار “Vacation mode ” والتى تعنى انك فى اجازة ولا يمكنك قبول اى طلبات على اى من خدماتك (راجع هذا الموضوع لمعرفة طريقة القيام بذلك).

9- لا تقوم بتسليم خدماتك متاخرا عن موعد تسليمها ابدا

بعض الفريلانسرز يلجأون إلى تقديم مدة تسليم اقصر مما يستلزمه العمل على سبيل المنافسة مع باقى مقدمى الخدمة. ويعتبر ذلك خطأ كبيرا فتسليم الخدمة فى موعدها هو من اهم عوامل نجاح أى فريلانسر ومن اكثر العوامل التى تؤثر على قرار العميل حول شراءه خدمتك. لذا حاول ان تجعل عناصر التنافس مع باقى مقدمى الخدمة على الموقع بعيده كل البعد عن موعد التسليم. فيمكنك المنافسة فى السعر والجودة او اى عنصر اخر الا موعد التسليم الا ان كنت واثقا انه يمكنك التسليم فى الوقت الذى حددته. وواثقا ايضا انك ستتمكن من الانتهاء من الخدمة قبل الموعد بمدة كافية للتصرف فى حال حدوث اى طارئ.

10- لا تقوم بالغاء تفعيل خاصية العلامة المائية على خدماتك

هذه الخاصية تكون مفعله تلقائيا على كل الخدمات التى تقوم بإنشائها. وتعنى ان الموقع يضع علامة مائية على الصور التى تستخدمها فى وصف خدمتك. واهمية هذه الخاصية تتمثل فى منع استخدامها من قبل الاخرين خاصة ان كانت من تصميمك الخاص.

فاذا قمت بالغاء تفعيل هذه الخاصية سيتمكن مستخدمى الموقع من الحصول على تلك الصور واعادة اسخدامها لعرض خدمة مماثلة او فى اى شيء اخر.
